I wasn’t exactly a big breadwinner, and the medical insurance I had rarely included dental coverage—even though dental health is critical. I learned the hard way how serious it could be when I was told that an abscessed tooth could lead to a heart attack if left untreated.

Desperate to fix it, I applied for a grant through a women’s organization and was awarded $500. Unfortunately, that only covered drilling the hole—it turned out the full cost was $1,000. I managed to find a dentist willing to work with my $500, and thankfully, he saved the day.

In 1998, I thought I’d finally caught a big break. I landed a job with a great salary, medical, and dental benefits, and they even planned to fix my teeth. But when the estimate came in, it was a staggering $20,000—in 1998 terms! Today, who knows what that would amount to? Sadly, the company turned out to be a complete mess, and I never got the chance to fix my teeth.

Fast forward…

With so many pressing bills just to get by, I had to put off fixing my teeth. $20,000? Yikes. All I wanted was to take care of them, but the system feels rigged to ensure dentists make more money. Did you know you can’t even get your teeth cleaned without X-rays? Insane. Some dentists will bend the rules once, but as I told them, it doesn’t matter what you find—I can’t afford to fix it. Still, they insisted, claiming it’s a requirement from the dental association.

So, I got creative. I went back under false names—Stacy Ray-Ray was one of them. It was humiliating and made me want to cry. All I wanted was to prevent bigger problems by cleaning my teeth regularly. When I finally lost my patience over it, a dentist explained that their hands are tied—it’s the dental association’s rules.

And that, my friends, is the core issue with the entire healthcare system. The Bible says that people should obey the government that God has established, unless it contradicts God's law. 

Fast forward… 

Eventually, I found a trade organization where I could barter my services to get my teeth cleaned and even a critical tooth of teeth fixed. Fantastic! But it was a one-time thing. After that, they wanted $2,000 per tooth. F’ that. For a year, I couldn’t find a dentist who would clean my teeth without insisting on X-rays. I recently found a coupon that included both a cleaning and X-rays—and they agreed to skip the X-rays if I wanted. So Now I'm on a mission to find a holistic way to heal. 

Fast forward to today. Through everything I’ve learned about health, I now understand what my teeth truly need. They’re made of calcium and bone, which I always knew—but I wasn’t doing anything to nourish them or make them stronger. The key? Minerals.

God has given us everything we need, and I’m discovering just how essential minerals are for building and maintaining healthy teeth. It’s been a long, eye-opening journey, but I’m finally taking control of my dental health in ways that truly make sense for me. God means diffrently to everyone.
